An amazing read! Truly inspirational
The collection truly takes you through every emotion of the farmers protest, beginning with the worry for the “plight” of the farming people and going on to enlighten its reader on the effects of: oppression (poems 1-5), the impact of modern environmentalist activist Greta Thunberg (‘The Greta Effect’), the historical importance of farming (‘Feed the World’), the impact of celebrities contributing to the cause (‘A Queen of Barbados’), the importance of “the knowledge of the past” and those historical figures who embody resistance (‘Instruments of Change’). These are just a few of the topics in which Deol beautifully projects into his poetry for his readers to contemplate. Personally, his words have inspired me to want to take a more proactive stance in the face of resistance or, at the very least, to inject our society with more tendentious conversations.

One of the greatest pieces of Anglo-Indian literature you will read
Thank you for this book! I got it from the library, first, as I was considering using it for a class. I ended up not using it for my class, but I bought my own copy of the book because it is stunning. Fabulous poetry, This book includes some of the finest poet verses written anywhere today, and it is a stunning book for lovers of poetry. If you don't know the history of Indian poetry and how that is tied to issues of social justice, well, you don't know Indian poetry, and this book might be a fabulous place to start exploring this rich literary history. Well done to the Singh Brothers for bringing this to India.
