Balwinder Singh Lakhewali (Dr.)

Balwinder Singh Lakhewali (Dr.) (22.7.1976), a Punjabi writer born to Amarjit Kaur and Surinder Singh (Dr.) in village Lakhewali in Mukatsar. He is married to Amandeep Kaur.

He completed B.Sc and M.Sc Agriculture from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and P.hD (Agri. Extn.) from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

He has Fourteen years of experience in handling projects related to Agriculture and allied services like; horticulture, commercial floriculture, pesticide free kitchen garden, wasteland development etc. and also providing consultancy in landscape projects ranging from small residential houses to over 200 acre townships. Proficient in design and development of complete landscape including landscape, irrigation systems, softscapes, interior plantscapes. He is presently working as Project Director (ATMA), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Posted at district Moga since 2011.

He has also written hundreds of articles on trees, landscaping and environment conservation in various newspapers and magazines including Ajit and Punjabi Tribune.

Dr. Balwinder is also the founder president of an NGO, Nature Tree Foundation (Regd.), which is working for conservation of trees and environment. He is also working on endangered and heritage tree species of Punjab since 2004.

He got certificate for Practical horticulture from Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh.
